I also suggest deep breathing exercises, reading a book you’ve read many times, or drinking something warm while journaling. Whatever you do, try to stay away from the overstimulation of TV, computers, phones, or music. With a mind full of negative thoughts, the last thing someone needs is extra stimulus!
