Personal Space at Home

The stress adds up, the stimulation peaks, the mask breaks: the sight goes red, and here comes the makings of an anger meltdown. The majority of meltdowns for the female autistic person happen at home, when she can finally shed the mask of pretending to be neurotypical. Yet, this can be damaging for our relationships with those with whom we live and love! One tip is to have decompression time for a quiet hour when you arrive home from your daily activities. This gives you the space to orient yourself in your at home routine and protects both you and your housemates from misdirected anger.
