Time to Leave

Have you ever wondered when it’s time to go? When I’m hanging out with a friend, it’s very difficult to know when I’ve overstayed my welcome. I try to set a clear end time when I can by doing the following: 1) Set an appointment or other scheduled event for about two hours after my scheduled time with my friend; 2) Ask my friend the question, “What does the rest of your day look like?” so I can gauge their time barometer; and 3) Just tell the person, “My day is super open, so you’ll need to be the one to tell me when it’s time to go!” I usually state that last one when steps 1 or 2 haven’t worked, and I say it with a laugh to ease the intensity of the statement.
