Ask for Help

A cycle spinning round. With struggles around executive functioning, we find self-monitoring our actions and behavior difficult, yet we are also very sensitive to criticism due to rigidity in our thinking. How to find balance? Learning to ask for help and feedback on your own terms is a great first step. If you invite the constructive criticism (“Hey! Could you tell me something I can be doing differently to make this situation better?” or “Do you have any ideas what I could say in this situation next time?”), then you will be more prepared for the critical response. Surprise criticism is hard, but never knowing I did something wrong is even worse!
